Balloon Flower - Shell Pink
The Platycodon ‘Shell Pink Balloon Flower’,Platycodon grandiflorum, is a low growing perennial with light pink balloon like flowers that bloom in late May until August. (The flowers should be deadheaded to increase bloom time. ) The blooms puff up before opening and have a wonderful green foliage. With a plant spread of 8-12” and a height of 8”, it is one that should be in every perennial garden. ‘Shell Pink’ should be planted in full sun in a well-drained soil. Dianthus - Rubys Tuesday The Dianthus 'Rubys Tuesday', Dianthus Hybrid, has flowers that are a deep red carnation with a sweet fragrance. Dianthus will bloom from mid summer to early fall. In order for a longer bloom time, deadhead the blooms continuously throughout the summer. Dianthus needs a sunny site with well-drained soil, but will tolerate some shade in the afternoon and humidity. These fragrant, spicy dove like flowers look wonderful as a border plant, rock gardens, along walks or paths, for edging and a definite in cottage gardens. They are especially stunning when paired with white or silver.
