Salvia - May Night
The Salvia ‘May Night’, Salvia nemorosa ‘Mainacht’, has glowing purple stems loaded with violet-purple flowers that bloom from June to October. With its blue-gray, lance-shaped aromatic foliage, it makes an attractive accent all summer long. It has a plant height of 18” and a spread of 18-24” and stays in excellent compact form. Selected Perennial Plant of the year in 1997, one can see why. Salvia ‘May Night’ should be planted in full sun in a moist well-drained area. To increase bloom time, it should be cut back after the first bloom. ‘May Night’ is a magnet for butterflies, bees and hummingbirds and is deer-resistant. Jacobs Ladder - Brise dAnjou The Polemonium ‘Brise d'Anjou Jacob's Ladder’, Polemonium caeruleum, has variegated, fern-like foliage and large, single, light violet-blue flowers. The light violet-blue flowers open to bright yellow, adding delightful charm to its foliage. ‘Brise d'Anjou Jacob's Ladder’ blooms from June to July with a plant height of 18-24” and a spread of 10-12”. ‘Brise d'Anjou Jacob's Ladder’ needs to be planted in a full shaded area but will tolerate some morning sun in a well-drained area. Do not allow it to dry out. Try planting with Hosta ‘Francee’ or Polemonium ‘Bressingham Purple’, in mass plantings, in rock gardens or in an elegant landscape. ‘Brise d'Anjou Jacob's Ladder’ is attractive to bees and butterflies and easy to maintain.
