Sedum - Purple Emperor

The Sedum 'Purple Emperor', also known as Stonecrop, has dark purple, almost black leaves with compact purple stems. In the summer, they are topped with heads of pinkish, purple flowers. With a plant height of 15” and a spread of 12-23”, it is wonderful in any landscape. Sedum ‘Purple Emperor’ was awarded the Outstanding Perennial Plant Award from the International Hardy Plant Union in 2002. Sedum 'Purple Emperor' needs to be planted in full sun in well-drained soil. It will tolerate most soil types and is drought resistant. Plant with asters or coneflowers for a wonderful autumn display. Coral Bells - Velvet Night The Heuchera 'Velvet Night', Heuchera x 'Velvet Night', also known as Coral Bells, Alumroot and Crimson Bells is the darkest of the dark Coral Bells. This plant virtually glows in the garden or in pots. When underplanted with Lysimachia 'Goldilocks', or contrasted with golden foliaged hostas, this superb perennial really jumps. The slate black leaves display complex overlays of metallic purple. Show stopping when teamed up with any other foliage in light colors. Look closely and you will see that they are also covered with very fine hairs that give them their velvety appearance. Late spring to early summer bloom.
